Position Summary

The Tax Senior Staff position at AFairchild CPA Firm is designed for individuals who excel in technical tax work and client service. This role concentrates on ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance in all accounting operations. The Tax Senior Staff is responsible for preparing and reviewing tax returns, conducting research, and responding to tax notices, all while providing high-quality service to a variety of clients, including individuals, corporations, and partnerships. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, possesses strong tax compliance experience, and is dedicated to ongoing professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare complex tax returns for corporations, partnerships, and individuals.
  • Assist with the coordination of tax return preparation and responses to notices in conjunction with external tax advisors.
  • Respond to IRS, state, and local tax notices.
  • Maintain thorough workpapers to support tax provisions and returns.
  • Provide accurate and timely guidance to clients on ongoing personal and business tax matters.
  • Support senior team members in tax planning and review staff-prepared projects.
  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships by proactively addressing tax issues and recommending improvements to processes.
  • Conduct tax research, draft memoranda, and consult with clients regarding complex tax topics.
  • Handle quarterly federal and state estimated tax payments and manage annual extensions.

Qualifications

  • Three to five years of relevant tax experience in public accounting or a comparable setting.
  • Comprehensive understanding of tax forms, including 990, 5500, 1040, 1120, and 1065.
  • Proficiency in CCH Axcess tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is required
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build client relationships.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines effectively.
