Annie Fairchild, CPA

Annie Fairchild, CPA
Managing Partner and Founder

In 2001, Annie Fairchild’s largest client—generating over $100 million in revenue across more than 100 entities—hired her in-house to work exclusively with them. In 2007, she returned to public practice as Tax Director at a small Dallas firm, where she oversaw tax compliance and strategy for more than 500 companies and individuals. In 2009, Annie founded AFairchild, LLC, establishing a CPA firm dedicated to delivering exceptional accounting services across Texas. Today, with multiple locations and a reputation as an industry leader, Annie specializes in tax consulting, compliance, and structural and transactional advisory services for clients ranging from start-ups to large firms with revenues in the hundreds of millions.

In 2024, Annie was recognized as one of Forbes’ Top 200 CPAs, underscoring her commitment to excellence and leadership in the accounting profession. Highly regarded by banks and industry partners, she is frequently invited to host seminars, webinars, and other educational forums to deliver timely insights on critical financial topics.

Married to her husband Brad since 1986, Annie enjoys camping, crafting, and spending time with her family, grandchildren, and church community.

Ginger Roper

Ginger Roper
Partner, Chief Executive Officer

Ginger Roper brings over 20 years of extensive experience to AFairchild. As a seasoned fractional CFO, she has helped companies develop and implement financial systems, strategies, processes, and controls that enhance operations and strengthen financial performance. Ginger is committed to meeting clients’ financial needs through a comprehensive range of services, including applying technical expertise to ensure efficient GAAP compliance, analyzing and designing robust internal controls, reviewing payroll and sales tax laws and compliance, and preparing timely financial statements. She also assists clients with banking relationships to secure financing and liaises with vendors to support their business objectives.

Ginger has consulted with a diverse array of clients spanning retail, restaurants, commercial and private real estate development, professional services, IT service providers, manufacturing and distribution operations, and nonprofits.

She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from The University of Texas at Arlington. A native Texan, Ginger resides in Plano with her husband of 26 years. She enjoys tailgating at Texas A&M home games to visit their three children, cruising the countryside in one of their antique cars, and actively participating in her church community.

As Chief Experience Officer at AFairchild CPA, Troy is known for his attentive, creative approach to enhancing every client interaction and experience. In his role, he is dedicated to understanding client needs, ensuring clear communication, and developing solutions that foster long-term relationships. With over a decade of experience in the financial industry, Troy specializes in consulting with clients and designing strategies that optimize business structures and minimize tax impact.

He earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting in 2013 and completed graduate-level coursework at UT Dallas toward his CPA license. Troy is also an active member of the Texas Society of CPAs.

Married since 2020, he enjoys traveling with his wife and is passionate about powerlifting in his free time.

Wendy Knutson received her bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Texas at Arlington. She began her career in industry before transitioning to public accounting in 2004. As Chief Operations Officer at AFairchild CPA, Wendy oversees the firm’s operational efficiency and ensures that internal processes support exceptional client service. She brings extensive experience serving clients across a wide range of industries, including transportation, construction, professional services, restaurants, manufacturing, and nonprofits.

A native Texan, Wendy lives in Keller with her husband of 35 years. She enjoys reading, spending time with her family—especially her grandchildren—and is an active member of her church.

Donna Jones
Partner, Chief Information Officer

Donna Jones, AFairchild’s Chief Information Officer, leads the implementation and optimization of technology solutions that support the firm’s infrastructure and enhance the partner experience. Donna brings extensive expertise in office procedures and technology integration, which has been instrumental in maintaining the organization’s operational excellence.

Donna earned an Associate of Applied Science in Business Management and Processes from Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and continued her education at the Art Institute of Houston, studying Multimedia and Web Design.

She and her husband, Phil, reside in Dallas, TX, where they enjoy traveling, playing video games, and cooking classic Louisiana recipes together.

Sheri Headrick earned her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from Oklahoma State University and has over 20 years of experience in public accounting in the Dallas area. Specializing in tax planning and compliance for business owners, she offers deep expertise across a range of industries, including professional services, oil and gas, manufacturing, retail, and construction. Sheri is known for providing clients with exceptional insight and professionalism tailored to their unique needs.

Her background also includes hands-on entrepreneurial services for venture-backed and family-owned businesses, such as reviewing internal management reports and statements, navigating multi-state and local tax requirements, and addressing property tax matters. Sheri holds a CPA license in Texas and is an active member of the AICPA.

Nicholas Wolpert is a distinguished financial professional with an impressive track record spanning more than two decades. Specializing in tax and accounting services for individuals and small businesses, Nicholas has earned a reputation as a trusted advisor known for delivering tailored, effective solutions.

He holds both a Master of Business Administration and a degree in Economics from The University of Dallas, providing him with a strong educational foundation in business and finance. Nicholas is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and an active member of the Texas Society of CPAs.

Nicholas’s entrepreneurial spirit sets him apart. Following graduation, he co-founded a textile manufacturing company, launched a mergers and acquisitions firm, and built a successful multi-location dry cleaning business. In 2012, he co-founded a CPA firm, where he continues to focus on providing comprehensive public accounting services for small and mid-sized businesses.

What truly distinguishes Nicholas is not only his technical expertise but also his unwavering commitment to client care. He takes a personalized, empathetic approach to understanding clients’ concerns, building lasting relationships founded on trust and exceptional service.

Karen Smelcer serves as the Audit Director at AFairchild CPA, bringing 38 years of extensive public accounting experience across a wide range of industries. Karen graduated from Trinity University with a bachelor’s degree in business with a concentration in accounting and soon after earned her CPA licenses in both Texas and North Carolina.

Passionate about helping others, Karen is dedicated to assisting clients in growing their businesses and staying informed on the latest industry developments through diligent research.

Karen has been married for 38 years and is the proud mother of two children and grandmother to four. In her free time, she enjoys playing tennis, going for walks, and spending time outdoors with her family.

Her extensive expertise covers individual, partnership, Subchapter S Corporations, C Corporations, fiduciary, and estate tax matters. Regina has a proven track record serving clients in diverse industries, including veterinary medicine, real estate, family offices, high-net-worth individuals, professional services, energy, estate and gift, healthcare, agriculture, construction, manufacturing, and distribution and logistics.

Regina is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TXCPA).

She earned her Bachelor of Science in Accounting and her Master of Science in Taxation from the University of North Texas.

Larry is a seasoned vocational pastor with 30+ years of ministry experience. He holds a Master of Science in Christian Education from Abilene Christian University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Lubbock Christian University. As the Director of Client Engagement and Resources, Larry’s passion lies in connecting with people, helping them achieve their goals, and fostering meaningful relationships.

He’s been happily married for 35 years, has two happily married sons with two precious grandchildren, enjoys spending quality time with his family, tending to his property, and attending shows and musicals with his wife. His goal is to continue leading leaders and collaborating within a team to accomplish significant kingdom and community objectives.

Caleb serves as Tax Director at AFairchild CPA, bringing 18 years of specialized experience in public accounting with a focus on taxation. His expertise spans partnership taxation, real estate, and health care services, allowing him to provide tailored solutions for clients across a wide range of industries. Throughout his career, Caleb has worked with clients of all sizes—from six-figure businesses to companies with revenues exceeding a billion dollars—earning their trust through his deep knowledge and commitment to excellence.

Caleb holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Oklahoma Christian University and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in both Oklahoma and Texas. He has been a full-time CPA since 2005 and is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

Outside of his professional life, Caleb has been married for five years and enjoys spending time with his two dogs. In his free time, he loves watching movies, walking his dogs, playing games, and is currently learning to play pickleball.

As our CAS Manager, Stephanie has been working at AFairchild since 2022 and has been in the accounting profession since 2007. She received her Bachelor’s in Accounting from the University of Louisiana at Monroe and her Master’s in Accounting from the University of Notre Dame. Soon after, she received her CPA license and began working in corporate accounting. Along with her experience in the corporate world, Stephanie worked in public accounting with small accounting firms for six years. Her versatile experience has led her to discover her passion for working with small businesses. She enjoys helping small and family businesses make their ideas come to life and believes they are a valuable aspect of our economy. Stephanie is motivated to bring success to her clients by using her detail-oriented skills and staying up to date with new research and legislation. 

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her 5 kids and husband of 15 years. She also enjoys cooking the delicious food she has made from her garden.

Ricardo is the Client Accounting Services Technology Manager at AFairchild CPA. He has been with us since 2019 and has only added more value to the company. Ricardo does not only work at AFairchild, but he goes above and beyond by taking the time to explain difficult concepts to clients, describing the effects of certain decisions, and communicating the processes and procedures being done for clients. Ricardo excels in researching new processes, general planning, and utilizing new technologies. He graduated from Texas A&M University at Commerce with a Bachelor of Business in Accounting and Finance and is experienced in working with commercial and rental investment properties. 

In his free time, Ricardo prioritizes staying connected with his family and friends by taking them out to lunch or simply spending quality time together. He recently joined the archery club in town and every now and then enjoys sitting down to read a good book.

As Accounting Manager, DeAnn Huegele brings extensive experience in bookkeeping and accounting, paired with a passion for helping people and a strong work ethic. Her ambition has driven her to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a focus on Finance and a Master of Business Administration from Stephen F. Austin State University, followed by a Master of Accountancy from Texas A&M University. DeAnn has also earned her CPA certification, demonstrating her commitment to excellence in the field. With nearly a decade of experience, she has built a reputation for delivering high-quality accounting services and ensuring client satisfaction.

Outside of work, DeAnn enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter at the lake or camping. When she finds a quiet moment, she loves getting lost in a good book.

Denise Villarreal, CPA

Denise Villarreal, CPA

Denise Villarreal brings over 30 years of experience to the firm as a Certified Public Accountant.  After earning her BBA degree in Accounting from Texas Christian University, she started her career in public accounting at a large, regional firm in Fort Worth.  She served a variety of clients with a focus on audit where she advanced quickly.  From there, Denise moved into corporate financial accounting after accepting an offer from one of the firm’s clients for their Controller position.  While in the corporate setting, Denise developed a love for leading and mentoring her teams.  She has held leadership roles in accounting and finance for several successful and growing companies, both public and private equity backed, where she was responsible for providing the accurate and timely financial information necessary for companies to achieve their business goals.  During this time, she also developed a passion for process improvements and project work like accounting system implementations.   

Some industries Denise served in include manufacturing and distribution, retail, commercial real estate, commercial restoration, data technology, and non-profit organizations.    

Denise and her husband, Blas, both come from large families and their own blended family includes 5 adult children and 5 grandchildren.  They enjoy being active members of their church, spending time with family and friends, working out at fitness classes where they have been long-time studio members, watching TCU sports, cooking family recipes, and gardening.  Denise is a member of the Texas Society of CPAs, and is an active member of DGroup International, a weekly discipleship and bible study group.  She loves reading, traveling, and trying to improve her baking and cooking abilities!  Her Lebanese roots have instilled a love of eating and preparing Mediterranean foods, and being married to Blas has enhanced her love of Mexican foods, as he prepares delicious fajitas, tacos, and tostados!
