Position Summary

The Audit Director will lead and expand our audit practice while overseeing the delivery of high-quality audit and assurance services to our clients. This role requires a seasoned audit professional with extensive experience in financial statement audits across multiple industries, including exposure to governmental audits under GASB standards. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with the drive to develop client relationships, grow the practice, and progress toward firm partnership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate tax return preparation, audits, and responses to notices in collaboration with external tax advisors.
  • Respond to IRS, state, and local tax notices, as well as audit inquiries.
  • Maintain detailed workpapers to support tax provisions and returns.
  • Provide timely and accurate tax-related guidance to clients regarding ongoing personal and business tax issues.
  • Participate in tax planning by reviewing and providing feedback on staff-prepared projects.
  • Prepare and/or review complex tax returns, including corporate, partnership, and individual filings.
  • Develop, coordinate, and supervise tax staff projects, providing guidance and oversight.
  • Build and maintain client relationships, addressing tax issues proactively and offering process improvement recommendations.
  • Conduct tax research, write memoranda, and consult with clients on technical tax issues.
  • Manage quarterly federal and state estimated tax payments and annual extensions.
  • Lead tax staff in delivering high-quality, timely tax work.
  • Review tax research, tax returns, and other deliverables to ensure accuracy and compliance

Qualifications

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or actively working toward CPA licensure.
  • In-depth knowledge of tax forms such as 990, 5500, 1040, 1120, and 1065.
  • Proficiency in CCH Axcess tax software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s in Taxation preferred).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and client relationship skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and mentor tax staff
