The Opportunity

As our audit team grows, this role offers an opportunity to take ownership of engagement areas, coach developing professionals and contribute to the continued growth of the firm's audit practice.

Position Summary

Play a Key Role From Fieldwork Through Completion.

The Senior Auditor leads day-to-day fieldwork on audit and attest engagements, coordinates assigned staff and helps ensure engagements are completed efficiently, accurately and in accordance with firm methodology and professional standards.

This position serves as a key client contact during fieldwork, translates planning decisions into clear work assignments and supports the development of staff and interns through practical coaching and timely feedback.

As the audit team grows, the role will also include assisting with marketing and networking efforts.

What You'll Do

Key Responsibilities

Lead engagement work, strengthen client relationships and help develop the professionals working alongside you.

Engagement Leadership

  • Lead assigned audit, review, compilation and other attest engagement areas from planning support through completion.
  • Supervise staff and interns during fieldwork by setting priorities, answering questions and reviewing progress.
  • Perform and document complex audit procedures, including risk-based testing, analytical and substantive procedures and internal control walkthroughs.
  • Prepare and review workpapers for completeness, accuracy and readiness for manager review.
  • Own assigned sections of the audit program through completion and resolution of open items.
  • Review financial statements, disclosures, management letters and other client deliverables.
  • Identify audit issues, unusual items, control matters and project delays and communicate recommended next steps.
  • Monitor project budgets, deadlines and workflow status.

Client Service & Communication

  • Build productive working relationships with client contacts through responsive, prepared and respectful communication.
  • Help manage client expectations during fieldwork, including status updates, priority requests and timing of deliverables.
  • Draft professional client correspondence and assist with follow-up on PBC requests, sample selections and unresolved audit questions.
  • Represent the firm with a dependable, solutions-oriented and service-focused approach.

Team Leadership

  • Provide on-the-job training to staff and interns on audit documentation, client communication, time management and use of firm tools.
  • Review staff work with a coaching mindset and provide practical feedback that helps team members improve.
  • Model accountability by staying organized, meeting deadlines and communicating progress before issues become urgent.
  • Contribute to a positive team culture by being approachable, prepared and willing to help others succeed.
What We're Looking For

Qualifications

A strong technical foundation combined with professional judgment, communication skills and experience leading audit work.

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
CPA license or active progress toward CPA licensure preferred.
Generally 3–6 years of audit experience in public accounting or comparable professional services.
Strong understanding of GAAP, audit methodology, workpaper standards and professional standards applicable to attest engagements.
Experience serving closely held businesses, nonprofit organizations, governmental entities, churches, employee benefit plans or similar client types is helpful.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and audit software. Experience with CCH Engagement, Guided Assurance, Suralink, Checkpoint or similar tools is a plus.
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical matters clearly and professionally.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and work independently and as part of a team.

Work Arrangement

Hybrid Schedule

This position currently provides for 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home.
