Position Summary
As a Tax Manager at AFairchild CPA Firm, you will play a critical role in managing tax engagements for a diverse client base, including individuals, corporations, and partnerships. You will be responsible for supervising tax staff, preparing and reviewing tax returns, and advising clients on complex tax matters. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, experienced in tax research, and committed to delivering top-quality service.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate tax return preparation, audits, and responses to notices in collaboration with external tax advisors.
- Respond to IRS, state, and local tax notices, as well as audit inquiries.
- Maintain detailed workpapers to support tax provisions and returns.
- Provide timely and accurate tax-related guidance to clients regarding ongoing personal and business tax issues.
- Participate in tax planning by reviewing and providing feedback on staff-prepared projects.
- Prepare and/or review complex tax returns, including corporate, partnership, and individual filings.
- Develop, coordinate, and supervise tax staff projects, providing guidance and oversight.
- Build and maintain client relationships, addressing tax issues proactively and offering process improvement recommendations.
- Conduct tax research, write memoranda, and consult with clients on technical tax issues.
- Manage quarterly federal and state estimated tax payments and annual extensions.
- Lead tax staff in delivering high-quality, timely tax work.
- Review tax research, tax returns, and other deliverables to ensure accuracy and compliance
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; a Master’s degree in Taxation is highly preferred.
- CPA certification is required.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in tax role with a public accounting firm, including at least 3 years in a managerial position.
- Extensive knowledge of tax codes, compliance requirements, and procedures for corporations, partnerships, and individuals.
- Proven leadership skills with a track record of mentoring and developing staff.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively manage client relationships and interact with all levels of staff and management.
