AFairchild CPA began in 2009 at a dining room table in Carrollton, Texas — one accountant, one client, and a conviction that accounting should be about people, not just numbers.

Founder Annie Fairchild had spent years guiding complex businesses through tax and financial strategy, and she set out to build a firm that paired that technical depth with genuine, personal care. Word spread, the team grew, and what started at a kitchen table became a trusted Dallas–Fort Worth firm.

How Texas Franchise Tax Works

Texas Franchise Tax uses a margin calculation that is separate from the federal income tax calculation. The process begins with revenue from the federal return and then applies Texas-specific calculation methods.

Margin may be based on 70% of revenue
Cost of Goods Sold may be used when applicable
Compensation or wages may be used when applicable
A statutory deduction may also apply
Available deductions vary based on the business and industry

Exclusions & Cost of Goods Sold

Texas rules determine which amounts may be excluded from revenue and which businesses qualify for the Texas Cost of Goods Sold deduction.
