Tax Senior Manager Overview:
8+ years of recent experience in public accounting (or a combination of industry and public accounting) that includes working in a paperless and cloud environment, reviewing complex returns, researching complex tax issues, signing returns, managing client engagements, supervising project teams, establishing effective partnerships with clients, billing, and business development.
Your skills and experience will enable you to meet the following expectations of our professional and diverse Tax Group.
- Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns for all types of returns, including corporate (C and S Corporation), partnership, non-profit, trusts, and individuals
- In-depth knowledge of partnership tax positions, including property contributions and distributions, step-up in basis, other partnership-specific elections and codes
- In-depth knowledge of 163(j) Interest deduction limitation
- In-depth knowledge of real estate transactions, partner changes, gift
- Respond to tax notices from the IRS and various tax jurisdictions
- Maintain detailed workpapers to support tax returns, provisions, planning and other tax consulting
- Provide timely and accurate information to clients on tax issues
- Prepare and review tax planning for clients and then meet with clients for tax planning process
- Develop, coordinate, and supervise projects of tax staff
- Build and maintain client relationships and proactively interact to gather information, resolve tax-related issues, and make recommendations for business and process improvements
- Tax research, consultation, and preparation of client memorandums
- Develop and motivate tax associates by reviewing their work and providing them with counseling, leadership, and career guidance
- Ability to lead tax staff and others in ensuring work is completed with high quality and in a timely manner
- Manage the quarterly federal and state estimated income tax payments and annual extensions
- Review tax research, tax communications, and other requested deliverables
- Collaborate with team members on various aspects of the law
- Research new tax law and present it to the staff
- Attend various CPE and share knowledge with the staff
Required Experience
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or EA license
- In-depth knowledge of partnership taxation
- Proficiency with CCH Axcess tax software and programs as well as MS Office
- BS/BA degree in Accounting (Masters of tax preferred)
